Look what I get to do!

In the next few weeks I get to volunteer with some pretty neat people at these two camps in Topeka! Check it out!

Camp Pals ---This camp is designed for the adult with developmental delays that requires adapted instruction. The campers can experience traditional (and some non-traditional) day camp activities that are adapted when necessary and presented in an ability and age appropriate manner. We'll take fun field trips and complete challenging activities in a supportive atmosphere. Basically, I get to spend a week with some pretty cool people!

Lose the Training Wheels---"Lose the Training Wheels" is a unique summer camp experience to give children with disabilities the self confidence to learn to ride a two-wheel bicycle. Using specialized equipment, coaching and encouragement, children will "lose the training wheels." For children with disabilities, learning to ride a bicycle has many benefits, such as increased confidence and self-esteem, inclusion with peers, independent transportation, and most important, increased quality of life through recreation. Everyday I'll partner with a special little one and we'll work together to learn how to ride a bike!

I wasn't able to upload the video on my blog so here's the link for the website. Scroll down the page and there is a link for a video. You should really check it out :)

Great beginning to summer!

As of today at 9pm, I was officially done with the semester and home for the summer! How lucky was I to be done on Monday of finals week? Even luckier, I'll be heading to Branson with my grandparents tomorrow. Yep, just the three of us and I'm so excited!
Stay tuned for more about our adventures in Branson :)

Crafting>Studying

I've recently found my love for crafting. It all started this winter when we were stuck inside on a few college snow days. Lucky me!! I was stranded so I decided to craft. I even resorted to origami because there were no supplies and no way to get out in the snow. Unfortunately, the only time I craft is when I have a TON of homework to do hence the title..crafting is way better than studying! So naturally, when finals week came around, I began crafting again! Here are my recent creations!

For Valentine's Day, Chris and I decided to save some money and make something for each other. I don't have a picture of what I made him, but I'm pretty impressed with what he made me. He informed me not to expect anything else anytime soon because he used all of his "craftiness" on this.

Mother's Day

"May you always walk in sunshine. May you never wish for more"
I love these women more than anything in the world. They are a huge part of the sunshine in my life.
